Bad week to drive

God, what a week.

So a couple days ago someone cuts me off on the freeway and then proceeds to slam on the breaks. I managed to squeak by with barely hitting him. We got out, looked at the cars, everything seemed fine. I think the kids who cut me off were pretty relieved. It was like 3 14 year olds or something. They looked soooo young. They probably didn't have a license! :)

Yesterday I'm on my way to work and I see a strange man wander into the street in front of me. I'm like, "Self, why is there a strange homeless man wandering into the middle of the road." I try to avoid him and he moves into the lane I move to at which point I realize that its not in fact a hobo, but a policeman. hahahaha. He had a little stop sign on a piece of paper that he was waving or something. "Why didn't you stop?" "Because I thought you were some crazy homeless man charging into the street." Hehehe. So yeah, speeding ticket. Dammit. First in yeeeeeeears.

The kamikaze policemen were hiding behind bushes on the median with no policecars/policebikes nearby sticking their guns out.

Finished KOTOR II for the Xbox. Great game, although the ending was slightly weak as a good guy. If you haven't played it yet, play it evil. Oh, and my guild in World of Warcraft finally surpassed the horrible bugs that have been plaguing the game to beat Domo. Hurray.

Oops!

I've let this go too long without activity!! I will now assemble some randomness:

The new Harry Potter book was great. I now can't wait for the final one which I'm sure is a long way off.

I saw The Island this weekend with the usual suspects. It was exactly what I expected. A fun Michael Bay style romp with a bit of interesting Sci-Fi injected. It had some fairly massive plot holes, but oh well.

I've also recently seen an older movie called Crash. This is *incredible*. Its essentially about race relations and the like but I can't give it a good appealing description, you should just see it.

I've been playing some Knights of the Old Republic II for the Xbox. Its a shame George Lucas can't tell stories anywhere near as interesting anymore.

Mom is supposedly coming out for a visit in Late August. Houseguest omg! And Tommy has finally decided to bite the bullet and move out here. So looks like I will have a roomie/whatevah sometime in the next few months.

BG IS BACK!

Battlestar Galactica starts back up tonight! Yippee! SG-1 and Atlantis are also back, and I'm more excited by that then I normally would be due to the additions of Browder and Black(from Farscape) and Pillegi(X-files). The new Harry Potter book comes out this weekend and that is pretty thrilling too. Wheeee.

I saw Madagascar last night. Initially, I was quite disappointed. The entire beginning of the movie is pretty crap actually. However, once you get to the island and meet the king lemur(Ali G) it becomes pretty fantastic. Pre-lemur, the only redeeming thing is the penguins. :) Anyway, overall it averages out to a decent flick and maybe you should rent it and just skip the beginning!

Fantastic Four

I just really don't get it. Why does everyone seem to hate this movie so much. It had decent acting(Michael Chiklis was great, the unknown, to me, Torch actor was great, Reed was decent and Jessica Alba was hot...hehe), the story was a pretty decent origin story translation, the special effects were done well, etc. If I had to compare it in tone to another movie, its true that I would compare it to "summer blockbuster" fare like Armageddon or The Rock, but I enjoyed watching those too.

Anyway, I saw it this weekend with Chuck, and we both sort of walked out of the movie quizzically wondering why we had not hated it like every reviewer on the planet seems to. -- This brings up another pet peeve that irritates me. I got into a discussion with someone about the movie, and they were panning the hell out of it, based NOT on seeing it, but on watching the trailer... Fucking morons. ;) Its all well and good to choose not to see something based on what the trailer looks like, but you have forfeited any right to critique it.

Random things

Rian and Beth are now living out here. Hurray! They were "sprung" upon me when I went to Chris and Jenn's for the 4th.

War of the Worlds was a decent movie. The ending sucked, and I had a general feeling of something lacking throughout that I couldn't put my finger on, but it was still entertaining.

Melissa wanted me to be the new daddy for their cats, but I decided I couldn't manage it.

I don't know why it has taken me this long to get around to playing it, but Fallout:Brotherhood of Steel is pretty cool. I really love the Fallout world and although this game is a sort of a different genre then the originals, the feel is still the same.

Oh, and happy late Independence Day!
