The new LOTR:ROTK trailer has hit the web today:

Mmmmmmmm, sooooooooo can't wait.
In other movie news, I had heard inklings about this for a long time, but didn't think it was real... But I guess they are making a new Indiana Jones movie. It will be released July 4, 2005. (Which is also the expected release of the new Batman movie)
Terry Gilliam is making a Brother's Grimm movie. Taken from Cinescape: "Matt Damon and Heath Ledger play the two Grimm siblings who are actually con artists, duping simple townsfolk into believing they're the Middle Ages equivalent of the Ghostbusters." It will star Monica Belluci as the main evil witch lady.
I knew about this, but for those that didn't, as mentioned in a comment by my brother below, Aliens Vs Predator is greenlighted and will be coming to the screen as a Paul Anderson vehicle(Resident Evil). Henriksen, the guy that played Bishop in the Aliens movies is the first cast member to sign on thus far. A teaser for AvP is going to be attached to all prints of the Alien: Director's Cut rerelease in October.
Oh! And in case you haven't already watched it yet(it was released a few days ago), here is the new Matrix trailer too: http://whatisthematrix.warnerbros.com/rv_cmp/revolutions_trailers.html
I received a notice from the townhome management people the other day about the "weeds" in my backyard. So I removed them all last night at like 1am when I got home from work. Sadly, these aren't weeds so much as giant tree seedlings that have decided to grow all over my little back yard area. I kid you not, in some cases it wasn't a matter of pulling them out of the ground, that would be impossible. Instead it was a matter of breaking the WOOD in two near the ground and dragging the tree like entity to the garbage bin. Sadly, I had done all this just like a month ago, but these are like miracle trees.
The good thing about weeding at night by the way, is you can't see the bugs that you are disturbing that go scurrying everywhere.... or... maybe thats the bad thing.
On the home front, Chris hasn't made any progress on moving anything else out of the house over the past week+ or whatever that has elapsed. If his potential laziness quotient is anything near mine(and it is) it is very possible it will all remain there until the lease is up when he'll make a mad dash to finally move everything else out. ;) I was hoping he'd be industrious about getting it out so I could call carpet people and have them do the whole house and such to get the place ready for when I move out, but oh well, not like I can complain since he technically still lives there(pays the rent). :)
Work has been keeping me really busy lately, and I need to get back to it now so I can get out of here tonight!
Underworld was really good. It was much better than I really expected it to be. The music was great, cinematography was really spiffy, storyline was nothing particularly new but quite functional, action was non stop, etc. The effects were a bit so-so from time to time, but it never kept me from enjoying what was happening. Anyway, I recommend seeing it in the theatre if you can! 3.5 stars.
Oh, and the little teaser for Resident Evil 2 was spiffy even though it revealed pretty much nothing, I am very eager to see it. =)
Just a couple more hours of work to get through and then my weekend begins.
Nothing too terribly special planned. Linda offered me her house for the weekend while she is out of town and although I am too lazy to take her up on it to watch DVDs, I may just drag my gamecube over there to get some gaming in. :) Thanks Linda!!! =)
Saturday morning I'm going to meet Chuck and Eric for a showing of Underworld. Can't wait. I also just heard a rumor that a Resident Evil 2 teaser will be attached to it....ooooo. :)
So Chris continues to piecemeal his stuff out of the house day by day. Last night when I got home, Bobcat and the TV had vanished. So sort of a win/lose. :)
I managed to get a software dvd decoder running on my second computer, so I can at least watch dvds with horrible computer speaker sound for now. Still no option to play my gamecube games(Fzero, I miss you so), but oh well. I may try picking up a really cheap TV at a thrift store or pawn shop or something to hold me over for 6 months. For now, gamewise, I just find myself playing more Everquest on the computer. They just released a new expansion recently that really kicks butt.
My work let another couple of people go today. I'm confident that my job isn't at risk, but its still sobering. This month is also when annual reviews are done. With all the belt tightening going on around here, I seriously doubt I'll see any kind of raise...even though I am awesome. We'll see.
This whole Chris moving out, my impending desire to buy a house, etc has me feeling like I'm at a sort of crossroads at the moment. But I feel like I can't actually choose any of the roads to go down, like I'm stuck in a cage at the crossroads and I won't be able to move forward until someone lets me out(Yes, thats a Willow reference), ie, my landlord in 6 months when my lease is up.
Chris took me to see Bad Religion on Saturday. Was a great show of course, as always. This was my fourth time seeing them in concert.
Speaking of Chris, he moved out this weekend. What does this mean for me exactly? I am not sure yet. Chris still will be paying his share of the rent, etc until the lease is up in March. On the plus side, there will be no crazy bobcat living with me anymore and peeing on my stuff if I leave my room open. Downside includes the fact that Chris is taking his TV and soundsystem with him. This leaves me with no way to watch DVDs or play on my gamecube for now. Arrrrrgh. I can't just go buy another at this point, since I'm avoiding any purchases for the next 6 months until I close on a house.
Chris is supposedly going to try and talk to the landlord about letting us out of our lease early. If he manages it, I'll shack up with him and his woman for a month or two, however long it takes me to buy my house. The upside to that is I won't be on any crazy timeline and I'll be paying less for rent. The downside will be the craaaazy long commute to work from his new place(an hour +). Still, If that happens it will be awesome. I just don't think our landlord will be keen to letting us out of our lease early, especially since that would entail his having to find new tenants during the holidays pretty much.
Le sigh.
Some people clicking on the badger link today are finding it dead...here's another source for the badgers: Clicky
Yeah, I can't really describe this, just go look at it. Oh, and Joe, when you see this, be sure to explore the site for the other movies too, this site is very much for you. ;)
The fever didn't come back by the way, I'm still sick, but no fever means no Malaria as far as I'm concerned. :)
In other news, I've pretty much settled on an intellectual property topic as a result of a lawsuit I just read about. White Wolf is suing Sony for stealing their ideas about Werewolves and Vampires to make Underworld. Yeah, because White Wolf's ideas were so original.... uh huh. Stupid bastards. Oh well, gives me a strong tie to my paper idea. :) Anyway, here is the story and here is a Penny Arcade comic about it.
I ended up coming down with a flu or something this weekend, fever, chills, etc. No fun. On the super duper no fun side of the equation, according to my health care provider I should come in for some tests on Monday to make sure I don't have Malaria(Hah Toby, you see?!?!?), but the fever portion of my symptoms is gone at the moment. So unless it comes back in 48-72 hours like would be typical of Malaria, I think I'll just skip that. I'm really not all that concerned. ;) And hey, the type of Malaria I could even have contracted in SE Turkey wouldn't be the madness and death kind anyway, it would just be the ruined kidney and possibly ruptured spleen type. Thats not all that bad. hehe.
Oh well, off I go to brew myself some more green tea and drink some more OJ. ;)
I'm in such a good mood right now for no particularly special reason I suppose, but since I'm in a good mood most of the time anyway, I guess it doesn't take much to push me over the top. ;)
First off, I'm currently listening to the Bjork Live Box cd set. Musical goodness!!!! *bounce bounce* I'm in heaven.
While doing that, I'm working on some homework. Now you wouldn't think this would be a good thing, but for some reason I've just felt a tremendous amount of accomplishment with my math class this semester thus far. Normally math is my least favorite subject partly because I have a problem making the formula's stick for any appreciable length of time, and math is all about memorizing formulas.... But everything is just clicking rapid-fire-like so far and I feel like a "Suuuuuuuuper Geeeeeenious" to quote a certain cartoon coyote.
My math class itself is still a bit odd in terms of some of the things I have to do for a grade. And before you get any ideas, its nothing like THAT!!! ;) I do have to do 4-6 hours of community service for part of my grade though, preferably teaching/tutoring math to elementary/middle/high school students, but it can be any sort of service type thing up to and including learning CPR. Which is by the way, what I might do, as I don't think I'd trust even my new math super powers to teach even rudimentary math yet. :)
My English class this time around is all about a research paper, beginning to end. Right now we are just doing the rudiments of preperation, ie, choosing a topic and searching for initial resources. Now, mind you, I don't think I'm going to learn anything English-wise in this class, but having full freedom of topic is definitely a plus. I am currently considering three general areas I think would be fun to research and write about...you can help me pick one if you like. ;)
1)Intellectual Property - More specifically, probably something dealing with the way big corporations like Disney continue to lobby for changes to Trademark laws to keep Mickey out of public domain OR something concerning the increasing effect that the digital age is having on the enforcability(or lack of) of copyright laws.
2)Reduced Freedoms - Focus here would be on reductions in freedoms/privacy current or intended as a result of Terrorism OR maybe more of a focus on just how technology is making privacy more and more impossible.
3)Medical Epidemics - This one would be kind of doom and gloom, so its my least likely choice, but I'm fascinated by how quickly something horrible could spread nowadays, man-made or natural, lots of possible angles here.
In completely unrelated news, I have a rediculous amount of entertainment sitting at home right now waiting to be consumed. I've still been playing F-Zero GX for the Gamecube, it is the most amazing racing game you'll ever play...sheer speed. I finished watching Babylon 5 season 3. A few ep's near the start of the season were a bit lacking, but overall the season was astounding and contained probably my favorite episode thus far. Waiting to be consumed are the following DVDs: Two Towers, Angel season 2, Sopranos season one(on loan from Eric), Simpsons season 3(with commentaries on EVERY episode, are they INSANE?!?!), Bjork Live at the Royal Opera House. Toooooooo muuuuuuuuch!!!!! Maybe I could keep up if school wasn't in session, but it is! The horror! :)
Oh! And final weightloss update. I unintentionally hit my goal weight: 180lbs. I actually tried to put the breaks on and stop the weight loss as I think I've been in a good place, just in need of some pure toning and remaining fat to muscle conversion at the gym, however for some reason its still been slipping off. I guess I'll try and somehow eat even more....*chuckle*
Anyway! Off to finish some work now so I can go home and enjoy my weekend.
One of our cleaning people is using some kind of steamcleaning contraption to clean the carpets here at work right now. There is obviously some sort of chemical agent involved to my chagrin, as I find myself feeling as if I am at a dentists office right now. The smell is somehow recalling memories of Nitrous Oxide, or maybe its just the chemical high that is familiar. God. I guess I'll try to struggle through it and finish my work and such.
If this is my last entry, assume overdose.
