The Future Shock

I saw this linked on Dubious Quality and had to share it.

"[...]what must be the most bizarre and intricate prank ever. It's called The Future Shock: A Three Year Cross-Country Adventure To Save The World. I can't even describe it adequately--you just have to read it. It's The Truman Show, sort of, in real life."

In other recent news, the new Star Trek movie is pretty fantastic. I can't wait to own it in HD. Wolverine was a disappointment. I think maybe it is a decent flick for those that know nothing about him other then the movies.

Oden hit 6 weeks old this weekend. We dropped him off at Daycare for the first time today.

Change.gov

"President-elect Barack Obama has long said he wants to create the position of chief technology officer in his cabinet, a person who will make government more accessible to citizens. The first step in that plan, reportedly coming later today, is the launch of a web site about the new administration’s transition into the White House. Not yet live, it’s called Change.gov.

The CTO’s mandate would be quite different from the Cybersecurity czar appointed under the Bush Administration. Bush’s czar helped defend against cyberattacks. Obama’s CTO, by contrast, would ensure government officials hold open meetings, broadcast live webcasts of those meetings, and use blogging software, wikis and open comments to communicate policies with Americans, according to the plan.

Specifically — and this will be very interesting if it actually happens — Obama wants the public to be able to comment on the White House website for five days before he signs legislation. (I wonder if the Obama campaign will use Facebook Connect so you can leave comments on pending legislation and let your Facebook friends see them? After all, Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes helped lead Obama’s web campaign.)"

Site is now live: http://www.change.gov/

Ironman

Saw a late showing of Ironman last night with Margret, Gavin and Daniel. It was incredible. It is definitely my new favorite comic book-to-movie translation.

When you go see it, make sure to sit through the credits.

Update just to update

Apparently,

Once one of my updates ages about 2 weeks it becomes a victim of comment spammers, so I'm making this update mostly just to stop having to delete those. :)

*

Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium was actually pretty good. :)

*

Margret beat Rock Band on expert vocals with a little help from me on a couple songs. Yay. Also we beat Culdcept Saga and are now just still trying to earn more cards for killer decks.

*

Our team at Geeks Who Drink got 2nd place again this week. Yay, its been awhile.

*

This season of Lost has been amazing. I'm constantly anticipating the next episode.

Visitors

Justin and Annette are in town for business so we got to hang out with them the other night. We got some pretty good mexican food at Sadie's, then went back to ours and played Culdcept Saga and Rock Band. Good times.
